Blimey, at one post a month I'm a long way from winning any awards for most prolific mummy blogger. Got lots of excuses though.
Like reading. For months after giving birth to Louis and then Tilly, I only read newspapers, magazines and parenting related stuff. I think it was a combination of exhaustion, lack of time and the inability to focus on anything 100% because more often than not I would be disturbed by a small person. Now, when the kids go to bed they generally stay in bed which gives me a bit of time to switch out of mum-mode and rediscover and lose myself in books. I've got a lot of catching up to do.
Then there is drawing. As a bit of an insomniac in my twenties, I use to sit up all night with my pens turning my doodles into stories. I loved to draw and I made little self-published comics about mundane sort of stuff. I got inspired by people like Adrian Tomine and Julie Doucet and other artists who made me realise that comics aren't just about superheroes. I haven't drawn in years, but recently Louis has encouraged me to pick up my pens and we've started to draw together. And guess what? I've got my 4 year old into sequential art! He can't write yet, but he can tell stories with his drawings. Ok, they are pretty naive to put it mildly, but it's fun and it has made me want to do my own stuff again. So rather than blogging I've been scribbling.
Good enough excuses I reckon, but of course, I'll resolve to try and write here a bit more.
